Shadows and Strongholds by Elizabeth Chadwick

Brunin Fitzwarin is an outcast in his family. Though he is his father's heir, he is bullied by his brothers and despised by his grandmother. To develop his skills and ability, he is fostered out to Joscelin de Dinan, Lord of Ludlow. At Ludlow, Brunin trains to become a knight, while joining the de Dinan family. Brunin is betrothed to Hawise, the youngest daughter. But has Brunin become a man capable of becoming a man?

This book is a good Chadwick book. Brunin is a very amazing character. Being able to follow his story from childhood to adulthood really enables readers to connect with him. Hawise is a great character, as well. She has spirit and spunk that makes her human. As always, Chadwick enriches her stories with a wonderful blend of history. I enjoyed this book a lot.

I received this book from Netgalley.
