Godiva, the strong but indulged daughter of Coventry, suddenly becomes Lady of Coventry after her parents are killed in a surprise attack. Rushing to her aid is the stoic and silent Earl Leofric of Mercia. Her most trusted friend, Edward warns of the battle hardened savior. But Godiva has no choice, she must marry for Coventry.
This book tells the earlier story of Godiva, and her love affair with Leofric. I enjoyed it, but it seemed rather short. But I did devour it in one afternoon. The twists were good. I also liked that the characters were all flawed.
