The Golden Dice by Elizabeth Storrs

The Golden Dice brought Caecilia back to Veii, where she is now a mother to three boys. But her arrival in Veii also brought war. As the Romans attempt to destroy Veii, Caecilia must watch as her family fights her homeland. Being a Roman also makes brings her family into danger.

In Rome, Caeceilia's cousin, Marcus is going to war with Veii to restore honor back to his family after Caecilia's betrayal. Also stinging from Caecilia's betrayal is Drusus, her former admirer.

Soon the golden dice will roll.

I loved this book even more than the first. Caecilia is now less Roman, but she still loves her family back in Rome, and hates to see harm befall them. But her life is in Veii. Her choices are difficult, but she is a strong woman. I love to see the relationship between her and Vel (note, we're calling him by his first name now!!) blossom. I also enjoyed watching the life ebb and flow as betrayal is always close in war.

Very excellent novel. I can't wait for the last one!

Thanks to the publisher for a review copy!
