Isabella: Braveheart of France by Colin Falconer

Isabella of France is married off to Edward II, King of England. She looks forward to being Queen, being loved and bringing peace to her country. But Edward is not the King she thought him to be. Confounded by his need for his favorites and his shunning of her, she begins to become restless. She was raised to be a Queen, not forgotten. As her life takes different turns, Isabella finds that she can be the Queen she was meant to be.

I liked this version of Isabella. She is smart, driven and determined, even when at her in her desperateness. I also liked her relationship with the men in her life, Mortimer and Edward. I even liked her relationship with Gaveston. Despenser made for an awesome villain. I enjoyed this book, and its twists. The end is really good.

Thanks to the publisher for a review copy.
