The Wedding Shroud by Elizabeth Storrs

Caecilia is a young Roman woman, who as a half caste is used to united Rome with it's neighbor city of Veii with a marriage treaty. Wed to Vel Mastarna, richest man in Veii, Caecilia is struck by how different Veii is from Rome. No longer expected to be the demure Roman matron, Caecilia struggles with becoming a wife to her enemy, as well as with the religion of Veii. Caeceilia's story is full of struggles, strife, betrayal, and acceptance.

I adored this book! Adored! Caecilia is a wonderful narrator. Wanting to do the best by Rome, as well as her husband makes her life hard, but I enjoyed watching her adapt. I loved Mastarna. He is wonderful husband, and I liked seeing him try to relate to his new wife. This is a wonderful book, I can't say that enough!

Thanks to the publisher for a review copy.
