The Taxidermist's Daughter by Kate Mosse

Constantia Gifford, is the unmarried daughter of the shunned taxidermist. Attending a local ceremony, she notices a lady in the crowd she has never seen before in the sleepy town. That night, the lady is found dead and her father is missing. As the investigation begins, Constantia realizes that the mystery surrounding her family may be deeper than she ever imagined.

This gothic thriller was really good. Constantia was injured in a stair accident as a child and has no recollection of her life before the accident. I found her a bit too trusting at first, but she quickly comes to her own. The plot is thick. Super thick. It moves at a good pace, allowing the reader to try and see the future. I enjoyed this book a lot. If you love gothic thrillers, this one is for you!
